What Affects the Cost of a Dental Implant?

23 September 20262 min read

Two implant estimates can differ a great deal, and it is rarely arbitrary. The cost follows what the case actually needs — so comparing numbers without comparing treatment plans tells you very little.

What changes the cost

  • Bone condition. If the bone has shrunk after years without the tooth, grafting may be needed before the implant. That adds a procedure.
  • Number of implants. One missing tooth is not the same as a full arch. All-on-4 replaces a whole jaw on four implants — more complex to plan, fewer implants than replacing each tooth individually.
  • Implant system. Established international systems have decades of research and documented long-term results behind them, and their components remain available years later if a crown ever needs replacing.
  • Crown material. Zirconia, porcelain-fused-to-metal and other options differ in appearance and strength.
  • Planning and imaging. A 3D CBCT scan shows the bone and nerve positions and allows precise placement. Guesswork is cheaper and riskier.
  • Extra procedures. Extraction of the failing tooth, sinus lift or gum treatment before the implant all form part of the plan.
  • Who performs it. Training and experience in implantology affect both planning and outcome.

Why the cheapest quote is not always cheapest

An implant that fails, or a crown whose components are no longer manufactured, costs more in the end than doing it once properly. Ask what is included in any estimate: the implant, the abutment, the crown, the scan, follow-up visits, and whether grafting is priced separately.

Questions worth asking

  • What does the estimate include, and what is extra?
  • Which implant system is used, and why that one?
  • Has a 3D scan been taken and is grafting needed?
  • How many visits, over how long?
  • What happens if there is a problem later?

Getting an estimate for your case

Because the answer depends on your bone and the number of teeth involved, a realistic figure comes after an examination and scan. If you are travelling from another town or from abroad, send your X-rays on WhatsApp and our specialist will review them and explain what your case needs before you come in.
