Choosing a dental clinic matters most when the treatment is significant — implants, full mouth rehabilitation, orthodontics. A star rating tells you people were treated politely. It does not tell you whether the clinic can plan your case.
Eight practical checks
1. Who will actually treat you? Ask which doctor performs the treatment and what their qualification in that area is. A general dentist, an endodontist and an implantologist have different training.
2. Is there a diagnosis before a plan? A proper plan follows an examination and the images the case needs — not a price quoted over the phone.
3. Are the options explained, including doing nothing? A clinic confident in its advice will explain alternatives and the trade-offs, not just the most expensive route.
4. Does the timeline make sense? Implants need healing time; orthodontics takes months. Timelines that sound too short deserve a second look.
5. Can you see the equipment used for diagnosis? CBCT and digital scanning change what can be planned accurately, particularly for implants.
6. What about sterilisation? Ask what protocol is followed. Any good clinic will answer happily.
7. Is aftercare included? Who do you call if something hurts at night, and what happens if a restoration fails?
8. Do the reviews describe your treatment? A thousand reviews about a routine cleaning tell you little about complex implant work. Look for reviews describing treatment like yours.
If you are coming from another town or abroad
Ask how visits will be grouped and how many trips are needed. A clinic used to patients travelling will plan this before treatment starts, not as you go.
Questions worth asking
- What exactly does the plan include, and what is separate?
- Which materials or implant systems do you use, and why?
- What happens if there is a complication later?
- Can I see the treatment plan in writing?
